DBFC – Leave My Room EP

DBFC – Leave My Room EP

DBFC are a wonderful concept, created from the musical landscapes of both Manchester and Paris and featuring David Shaw and Dombrance as members!

Their description says :

“DBFC is not a band, its a club
DBFC has no strategy
DBFC is not interested in any political lies or promises
DBFC is inspired by the spontaneous combustion of the sixties and the endless possibilities of dance music
DBFC is not afraid to be accused of being schizophrenic nor longing to be praised for its diversity
DBFC refuses to choose between making dance records or rock records”

This debut EP “Leave My Room” floats between Electro similar to David and Dombrance’s previous work , Shoegaze guitar , Disco rhythms , Post Punk Basslines and upbeat vocals reminiscent of great bands such as New Order, Happy Mondays, The Presets, LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture, Beta Band, Super Furry Animals , The Whip and Soulwax all of which have an electronic sound to them as well as great riffs and melodies .

Opening track “Bright Light” kicks in straight away with lovely vocal harmonies this track has lots of really spacey guitar and synth sounds in the background !

“Humdrum” starts off with a string section and then jumps into a Punk Funk track like The Whip and LCD Soundsystem.

“Leave My Room” starts off with a dark de tuned vocal and then builds into a very Electro tune with a hypnotic vocal , can see this tune being smashed in dark basement clubs everywhere this year !

The highlight of the EP for me is the final track “Staying Home” which is just a gorgeous track with big vocals and lovely guitar !

So all in all a very impressive debut EP and I hope there is a tour date in Glasgow next year !!
